ATTENDANCE - EVERY DAY MATTERS

Barnoldswick Church of England Primary School recognises the foundation of securing good attendance is that school is a calm, orderly, safe and supportive environment where all pupils want to be and are keen and ready to learn.

It is the legal responsibility of every parent to make sure their child receives an efficient full-time education either by attendance at a school or by education otherwise than at a school.  Where parents decide to have their child registered at school, they have an additional legal duty to ensure their child attends that school regularly.  This means their child must attend every day that the school is open, except in a small number of allowable circumstances such as being too ill to attend or being given permission for an absence in advance from the school.  This is essential for pupils to get the most out of their school experience, including their attainment, wellbeing and wider life chances.

Requests to take children out of school during term time must be made to the head teacher by completing an absence form available from the school office or using the download link below.

We follow strict guidelines laid down by the government which means that holidays taken in term time will NOT be authorised.

If a child does take a holiday in term time their attendance record will be marked as unauthorised absence.  If the absence is for five school days or more, we reserve the right to ask the Local Authority to issue a penalty notice.

Please see our attendance policy for further details.

Lancashire County Council set the holiday framework for schools.  This is published at: http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/school-term-dates-and-holidays.aspx
